Personal Work--Portraits on Film with Pentax67

The absolute SAGA I’ve been through trying to get a 67 camera for myself this year is… insane. But the time has finally come and I have a Pentax67 in my arsenal now and I couldn’t be happier. So, naturally, I called upon some of the gorgeous people I know to test out my new kit and I was not disappointed. More film this year!!! MORE FILM THIS YEAR!!!!

Austin Family Photographer--Outdoor Studio!

I’ve always wanted to try an outdoor formal studio set up and this was my chance! I purchased the crushed grey muslin of my dreams and it was PERFECT for this little family session.

Austin Family Photographer--It's that time of year!

Family photos, family photos, family photos! It’s almost impossible to feel overwhelmed when your clients are THIS stinking cute though!

Austin Wedding Photographer--The AfterTimes Party!

Madeleine and Benny got married in the sweetest little ceremony back in October of 2020. And now that everyone is vaccinated it was time for them to celebrate with the rest of their family and loved ones! What a treat it is to get to visit with past clients and see how they’re doing as we gradually emerge from quarantine brain. This little party was just as cute and pretty as their wedding was and I was so grateful to be able to be there.

Austin Family Photographer-- Welcome home, baby A!

Baby A was only 10 days old at the time of our session. I typically let my clients determine the timeline for their newborn sessions. Settling into life with a new baby can be stressful and I want everyone to be happy and comfortable. Courtney requested to have her session fairly close to the delivery of baby A, and this sweet, tiny, itty bitty squish was absolutely perfect for her first photo session.

Austin Portrait Photographer--Let's Celebrate Ourselves

Tiffany and I had a great time just celebrating what a wonderful person she is. She wanted a session to help document her personal victories recently and I of course said HELL YES when she asked me to be her photographer. What an amazing human being!

Austin Family Photographer--Last minute morning shoot

Sarah contacted me yesterday afternoon about doing a quick mini session with herself and her siblings as a gift for their parents before they headed back home. I definitely couldn’t say no! We were blessed with a surprisingly cool morning and managed to get wrapped up just as the heat and humidity started to ramp up. These guys are super cool and I had a great time photographing them.

Austin Portrait Photographer--Women Who Shoot Film

I know, I know! Two posts in a row. Ick. BUT I’ve just found some post worthy images of my beautiful friends! And I NEED TO SHARE ‘EM— again while I was rooting around through my hard drives this morning— I re-discovered these images of Rachel. Rachel is smart and kind and always has the right words at the right time. I’m just going to leave ‘em here so you can also admire her too.

Austin Portrait Photographer-- Jessica's Senior Portraits

I think we can all agree that it must be the weirdest time ever for High School seniors right now. With their final year of high school (which is arguably the most crazy and memorable and weird and emotional time in your whole LIFE) being upended and twisted and turned in the most unexpected way. These kids are amazing. They’re resilient. They’re tough and they’ll make it out the other end of this ready for anything.

Congratulations to the Class of 2020! I am amazed by you.

Austin Family Photographer-- Morning at the Sekrit Theatre

We have had all KINDS of weather here in Austin this past week. It’s been 80 degrees and sunny—30 degrees and snowing—50 degrees and cloudy….. my body isn’t sure what to expect anymore. So this morning when I woke up and it was cloudy and a bit chilled out, I was a little bit worried for my morning session. But BOY did I luck out. This cute family were total troopers <3 I did my best to make sure I didn’t take too long and freeze them into popsicles too.

Austin Portrait Photographer--The TX Studio

I’ve known Rachel since my Freshman year of High School. She’s bubbly and smart as heck and is always and forever my fashion icon. She also officially graduated from her Master’s program this past December and her 30th birthday is right around the corner! WHAT BETTER REASON to take some updated portraits??

After hemming and hawing for a few weeks, we finally settled on The TX Studio for our location. They are friendly, hold weekend hours and are the right price! Plus, their studio space is TO DIE FOR. Those big, frosted picture windows are the stuff of my dreams.

If you’re looking for a studio in the Dallas area or are from Austin and need a beautiful studio space that won’t break the bank— Check out The TX Studio!

We had a blast. Danced to Ariana Grande and made some beautiful art.

Austin Family Photographer: In-studio session

I bought myself a new 9’ backdrop last Friday. Now listen, I’m not the type to buy myself new things very often… especially kind of expensive new things. But after a lot of hemming and hawing on the color and texting Briley and finally making her decide for me, I settled on “Pecan” for this cute little family shoot. What a great neutral. I did manage to let it unroll itself WAY too much accidentally because I got a little arrogant and convinced myself I could set it up on my own. It ended up getting pretty wrinkled and kinked on the end. Oops. But it worked out! And I have some major heart eyes for this fam. L & T were in my class when I worked at the Montessori school (5 YEARS AGO!). They’re taller and 10000% hilarious and hate having their picture taken as much as the next person but we all had fun I think and now we have some cute photos to last them a lifetime.

Dear Universe,

More studio family shoots, please <3

Black and White Portrait Session in Austin, TX

Sometimes a simple black and white portrait session is enough to set your heart ablaze. For a while there I was feeling burned out on black and white images. I thought that color images were really where my heart and soul were. But oh my, was I wrong. Don’t get me wrong. I love color film—it’s a big part of my creative vision, but black and white can tell a story that color cannot. It leaves so much more to the imagination— it’s more of a whisper than a shout. For this shoot, MD and I channeled our inner Jeff Goldblum and Cole Sprouse and Nico Tortorella. And let me tell you— it worked. Also, MD is a really fantastic assistant, so when I get nervous and make weird mistakes that are 100% avoidable and very DUH, they are there to make me feel competent and confident again. I have known them for more than 10 years now (which is crazy to think about). They are a really good friend and I’m grateful I get to be their go to photographer.

Austin Family Photographer: Welcome Braxon!

Courtnie and Bradley have done an exceptional job making the cutest babies. I mean, just stinking look at ‘em! What a precious family. I am so glad that they invited me into their home for this little welcome home, baby boy photoshoot! It has been a real treat to watch this family grow and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them.

Austin Family Photographer: South Congress Session

Spent my morning with Courtney & Bradley and their sweet little one walking up and down South Congress. We stopped for a brunch break down at Cafe No Se, walked all around the South Congress Hotel and stepped into Big Top Candy Shop for a few minutes. I photographed Courtnie and Bradley’s New Year’s Eve wedding almost 4 years ago now and I’m so grateful to be here to capture their family as it grows. It’s always good catching up with old friends and watching them thrive.
